ALBION SUPPORTING BRIGHTON PRIDE

31 July 2015

Brighton & Hove Albion will be partnering Brighton Pride at this weekend's annual celebrations.

Albion will be supporting Brighton Pride’s 25th Anniversary celebrations by joining the Pride Community Parade and Carnival of Diversity on Saturday 1st August, with a spectacular steel band accompanying them as they celebrate Pride in Brighton & Hove.

The club’s head of marketing Tom Gorringe said, “Brighton & Hove Albion are extremely proud to be supporting Pride this year, particularly given that it is the 25th year of the celebrations.

“It is great to join forces with another pillar of our community as we look to further engage and represent our city.”

Albion’s support doesn’t stop with Pride as Albion in the Community, the clubs charitable arm, is also a proud partner of the Pride Diversity Games, and provided a day of fun football themed activities, including their hugely entertaining inflatable football attraction at Preston Park on Sunday 19th July as part of the Pride Diversity Games Fun Day.

AITC’s Gary Townsend said, "Brighton & Hove Albion and Albion in the Community provided a variety of interactive games and demonstrations that engaged our community and encouraged people to think about diversity and inclusion in sport.

"The activities were focused on our inflatable pitch, where we saw demonstrations of sports for people of differing abilities - such as walking football for fans of the game looking for a lower impact introduction to the sport.

"Albion were delighted to support these first ever Pride Diversity Games as it aligns beautifully with our efforts to support inclusiveness and diversity in sport and at the Amex.”

Brighton & Hove Albion are also supporters of Football v Homophobia (FvH), the international campaign tackling homophobia and prejudice against LGBT+ people in football.
