WOMEN'S ROUND-UP AND PLYMOUTH PREVIEW

12 December 2015

Brighton & Hove Albion women manager James Marrs wants his players to avoid a potential Amex hangover when his side host bottom club Plymouth Argyle at Culver Road on Sunday, kick-off 2pm.

Albion overcame Charlton with a 2-0 victory in an historic day at the Amex last Sunday, but Marrs has urged his players to solely focus on the challenge ahead.

He said, “Last week was absolutely fantastic for everyone connected with the club, but that is now in the past.

“Plymouth are going to come to Culver Road eager to cause an upset and we have to make sure that doesn’t happen.

“The result against Charlton could mean absolutely nothing if we don’t pick up the three points on Sunday.

“There is still plenty of room for improvement in our performances and I want the players to take more of their chances this weekend.

“We are expecting a very tough test from Plymouth and can take no notice of their position in the table, after our defeat to QPR earlier this season.”

The match takes place at the Sussex County FA Headquarters at Culver Road, BN15 9AX on Sunday 13th December, kick-off 2pm. Admission is priced at £3 for adults and £1 for Albion season-tickets holders and under-16s.

Albion (probable squad):
Faye Baker, Vicky Ashton-Jones, Catherine Cooper, Deanna Cooper, Charlotte Young, Jay Blackie, Kirsty Barton, Lucy Somes, Charley Boswell, Sophie Perry, Kate Natkiel, Amy Taylor, Charlotte Gurr, Emily Baker, Amelia Ritchie.

ALBION WOMEN’S elite women and girls’ football manager, Tracy Doe, paid tribute to everyone connected with the club after last Sunday’s win over Charlton at the Amex.

She said, “I just want to say a huge thank you for all the 3,256 fans that turned up to watch the game in such appalling weather conditions.

“To have such a fantastic crowd on a day like that, makes you wonder how many fans we could get through the turnstiles on a warm summer day playing in the Women’s Super League.

“Now we need to capitalise on what we’ve achieved and I would urge everyone who attended last week’s game to come to Culver Road on Sunday, when we face Plymouth.”

HOLLIE OLDING AND NATALIE TAYLOR
have been called up to the England under-17 squad for two friendly fixtures against Germany and France.

The duo will join up with the squad on Sunday, ahead of the fixture with Germany on Tuesday 15th December, kick-off 3pm and a match against France on Saturday 19th December, kick-off 11am.

THE DEVELOPMENT SQUAD are in action away to Chichester City in a league fixture at Clymping FC on Sunday, kick-off 2pm.

The Seagulls currently sit second in the Premier League Southern Division Reserves table with 21 points from eight games, just one behind leaders Tottenham.

ALBION’S CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE under-17 team travel to Everton in a re-arranged FA Women’s Youth Cup tie on Saturday.

ALBION’S CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE under-11s and under-13s take on Chelsea on Saturday morning. The under-15s are not in action, as the majority of the squad are taking part in Sussex Schools FA fixtures this weekend.

ALBION WOMEN’S next home game after the Plymouth match is against Tottenham Hotspur at Culver Road, BN15 9AX, on Sunday 20th December, kick-off 2pm.
