VAN LA PARRA DELIGHTED WITH LOAN SPELL

28 December 2015

Brighton & Hove Albion winger Rajiv van La Parra says he would be delighted to extend his loan deal at the club, but insists his sole focus is on tomorrow night’s game against Ipswich Town at the Amex.

Van La Parra’s current loan deal from Wolves expires on 2nd January and with the winger ineligible to play against the Molineux club on New Year’s Day, his last game in a Brighton shirt could be tomorrow.

He said, “If it’s an option then I would love to stay here. I’m very happy within the team, they look after me and the gaffer does too. I am in a good place now.

“It’s going to be a big night and I’m going to do my best to put in a big performance. If that’s going to be my last game, then I hope they will remember me as a good player.

“It was really important to keep a clean sheet against Brentford because we lost the Middlesbrough game.

“It knocks your confidence because we were unbeaten for 22 games. We knew it was going to happen at some point, and it’s about how you get on with it.”

The Dutchman has been pleased with his performances while on loan with the club, but admits he is still getting back to full match fitness.

“I am very happy with how I’ve got on in the games. The Middlesbrough game wasn’t my best, but overall I have done well and I’m very happy with my performances.

“I know my quality, but I am not 100 per cent yet, so it says a lot that I’m happy with my football now even though I am not at my best.”

The 24-year-old highlighted how vital it is to get three points on Tuesday night after a satisfactory result at Brentford on Boxing Day.

“You should go for the win in all your home games. The away games are tougher and if you can get a point at Brentford, then it’s a good result.

“After seeing how the game went, we have to be happy with the point.

“It’s good to be on the pitch; we are a good team and we play good football that suits me. The important thing is to win games. Now we have to win on Tuesday."
