Southend United have signed Brighton & Hove Albion central defender Glen Rea on a long-term loan until 2nd January 2016.
The 20-year-old Sussex-born defender could make his debut when Southend travel to Coventry City this coming Monday evening.
Albion boss Chris Hughton commented, "Glen has made great progress over the past year or so, both with the club and on the international scene. In the time I've been here he's shown that he is a great professional, willing to work hard and learn his craft.
"He had a terrific pre-season and he's been excellent in both League Cup ties he's played. Now it's right for his development to get some regular league football, and at Southend, a club who won promotion last season, he will be able to do that, and with a very experienced manager in Phil Brown."
