LuaLua’s winner came deep in stoppage time to prevent a tense match from entering extra time and Hughton was pleased with his side’s build-up play which led to the goal.
He said, “It was a good finish and it was great to get it at that stage of the game where everyone was tired, expecting and preparing themselves for extra time.
“It was a great time to score a goal and one of the real bits of quality we showed in the game. It started with the ball going up to Tomer Hemed before a really good ball by Danny Holla; it needed something like that to break the deadlock.
“I thought we had to defend a lot of crosses and corners very well, but probably a part from the super save that Niki [Maenpaa] made, they had no clear-cut chances.
"We defended very well, but we probably weren’t good enough on the night with the ball. We got into some decent crossing areas where I felt we made the wrong choices. It was probably going to be the one clear-cut opportunity that decided the game and fortunately we took it.”

“We’ve always been consistent in what we’ve done and always announced anything that is right and correct at the time.
“We’re certainly very close on something, but we’re not in a position to announce anything until anything is 100 per cent correct.
“The centre-back option is a position we’re looking at because at the moment, Lewis Dunk and Gordon Greer are our two mainstay centre-halves and with all due respect to Glen Rea, he’s a young player who is continuing to develop. It’s an area where we absolutely need cover.”
