14 April 2015

  • Albion are seven points clear of the bottom three.
  • The result ends a run of three consecutive defeats.
  • Joao Teixeira stetchered off after 78 minutes with a  suspected ankle injury.
  • Bruno and Nahki Wells have late chances to win the game for either side.

Brighton & Hove Albion’s hard-fought point against Huddersfield Town was overshadowed by a nasty injury to Joao Teixeira.

The Liverpool loanee attempted to win the ball back from Nahki Wells, but landed awkwardly following the challenge and was taken off the pitch with what looked like a bad ankle injury.
Albion created their first real chance of the game when Dale Stephens whipped in a corner-kick that was flicked on to Greg Halford, but he narrowly prodded his effort wide of Alex Smithies’s post.
Ishmael Miller had the Terriers' first chance of the match, after he showed brute strength to hold off Lewis Dunk and laid the ball off to Wells, whose first-time effort was comfortably parried away by David Stockdale.
The Seagulls then had a golden chance to take the lead, as Mustapha Carayol ghosted in at the back post to latch onto Bruno's cross, but the winger's side-footed volley agonisingly rattled the bar.
The Terriers pressed forward once again on the counter-attack, when Sean Scannell threaded a pass through to Miller, but the latter could not get the better of Halford and poked a low strike wide.
Chris Hughton's men were then dealt a blow after Teixeira sustained a nasty-looking injury, following his attempts to tackle Wells. The club are currently awaiting the full diagnosis of the forward's injury.
Teixeira left the pitch to some raucous support from both the Albion and Huddersfield supporters, as Chris O’Grady was brought on as his replacement.
As the clock ticked down, both sides had chances late on to claim all three points, as Bruno's audacious crossshot from the right-hand side hit the crossbar, while Wells hit the post from three yards out after Stockdale made a fine save to deny Jacob Butterfield.
