Brighton & Hove Albion under-21 forward Shamir Fenelon has been recalled from his loan spell at League One Rochdale.
The striker, who scored four times for the Seagulls during pre-season, joined Dale on a season-long loan back in August but has been restricted to just one start and four substitute appearances, prompting Albion to recall the 20-year-old.
Head of football operations David Burke told seagulls.co.uk, “Due to a lack of playing opportunities we have decided that it is in the best interest of Shamir’s progression to come back to Brighton.
“On the back of a good pre-season we had a number of league clubs enquire about Sham, but unfortunately the move to Rochdale hasn’t proven as fruitful as we would have wanted.
“This is not down to Shamir, he has merely fallen victim to a side that are not only winning games and on good form, but also scoring a lot of goals, so it is hard to break into a successful team.
“But we will get him back on the training pitch here, get him fit again and we will see what the next move is - whether it is staying at the club or another loan move.”
Fenelon made his Seagulls debut on the opening day of the season against Sheffield Wednesday and made three first-team appearances in total before his loan move to Rochdale.
