Brighton & Hove Albion defender Matthew Upson says fans can play a vital part in the two important upcoming home games against Reading and Queens Park Rangers at the American Express Community Stadium.

The Seagulls are just three points adrift of the play-off places, ahead of fixtures against two SkyBet Football League Championship play-off rivals.

The former Reading defender told, “It’s self-explanatory really as to how big the games are and the home support here at the Amex can make a huge difference.

“Both games are going to be vital for us and I am sure they will be similar to the previous match against Wigan.

“We are just urging fans to get behind us like they have done all season. They’re two big tests, but whatever happens there are still plenty of twists and turns ahead and many games to go.”

Albion have performed well against the top teams this season, securing back-to-back draws in the reverse fixtures at the Madejski Stadium and Loftus Road in September.

He added, “We’ve performed a bit better against the higher ranked teams in the league, but we are taking nothing for granted against two very strong teams.

“We played Reading first on the Sunday and then QPR the following Tuesday away from home and had two draws with two good performances.

“I’m excited about the challenges ahead and it is a crucial point in our season.”
