Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Northern Ireland international Paddy McCourt on a one-year deal and he goes straight into the squad for tonight's match at Leeds United.
The 30-year-old former Barnsley, Celtic and Derry City midfielder joins Albion after passing a medical at St George's Park yesterday, following a successful trial period that begun last Monday.
Manager Sami Hyypia said, "We have seen enough of Paddy in the last week or so to know that he is a player who has quality going forward; he is the type of player who can pick a pass and create a chance.
"Paddy is a player who sees the right passes, at the right time, and I hope he can help us in terms of creativity going forward and to help make some chances for us.
"He knows the Championship, having spent last season at this level with Barnsley, so he knows what to expect from this league - and he also brings additional experience to the squad."
McCourt made 23 appearances for Barnsley last season, scoring twice – including a dazzling dsiplay at the Amex, as the manager-less Tykes beat Albion 2-1.
Prior to that the Northern Irishman spent five years at Celtic, having moved to Parkhead from Derry City. He played 89 times in the green-and-white hoops, scoring ten goals in the process.
McCourt will wear squad number 20 for Albion.
