ALBION     6
Perry 12, Waine 56, Young 58
Natkiel 78, 90+3, 90+6

Kate Natkiel’s hat-trick helped Albion thrash local rivals Lewes in an incredible Sussex derby at the Dripping Pan.

The result extends the Seagulls’ unbeaten run to five matches and sends the team up into third-place.

Sophie Perry opened the scoring in the 12th minute with an in-swinging free-kick that beat Kirstie Spice at the far post to give Albion the lead.

But the Rookettes also looked dangerous going forward, as Perry had to be alert to clear away Naomi Cole’s free-kick, before former Albion striker Catherine O’Hagan struck her close range shot onto the roof of the net moments later.

Tammy Waine then had a chance to double the Seagulls’ advantage minutes later after cutting inside the Lewes box, but her effort was saved by Spice.

Kim Stenning also had a chance to double Albion’s lead just before half-time, but she headed Natkiel’s cross wide of the target.

The second-half began with a golden opportunity for Lewes to equalise, as Cole beat the onrushing keeper Lucy Mangan to the ball, but headed her effort wide with the goal gaping.

But Albion soon got their second of the match when Natkiel found Waine in space, and the latter coolly slotted the ball past Spice.

The Seagulls scored a third just two minutes later; this time through Charlotte Young, who headed Waine’s perfectly-timed cross into the top corner.

The Rookettes then had an opportunity for a consolation goal, as Katie Baker’s corner created havoc inside the Albion box, but Young eventually cleared away the danger.

Albion then added extra gloss to the scoreline with a late flurry of goals, thanks to Natkiel’s hat-trick.

The winger netted her first of the game in the 78th minute, after shooting low and hard into the bottom left-hand corner, before an almost identical strike three minutes into stoppage time made it 5-0.

Natkiel added her third and Albion’s sixth goal with a chip over Spice six minutes into injury time to complete an unforgettable victory.
