BRISTOL CITY 2
Morrell, 47, 61
Two second half goals proved the difference as Bristol City overcame a hard-working Albion side, avenging their defeat from earlier in the season.
The visitors struck twice through midfielder Joe Morrell to consign the Seagulls to a five straight defeat.
In the second mintue Albion’s Ragnar Mar Larruson could have put Simon Rusk’s side in front but fired straight at the visitors’ keeper from close range.
And as the half wore on the Robbins grew into the game with only a last ditch tackle from Robin Deen preventing them from taking the lead shortly before the interval.
Following the restart Albion looked the brighter of the two sides but soon found themselves a goal behind. Keeper Olly Wray collided with City’s striker on the edge of the area, and there was little he could do when Morrell drove the subsequent free-kick past his outstretched palm to make it 1-0.
A little after the hour mark it was 2-0 as Morrell’s corner caused confusion in the Albion ranks and despite rallying, Albion couldn’t find a way past a resolute City backline to mount a comeback as the visitors left with the spoils.
