Report: Albion 0 Huddersfield 0

Albion were left to rue missed opportunities as Huddersfield escaped the Amex with a point.

On a wet and windy afternoon, the Terriers ensured their two-game losing run came to an end as they held on despite continued pressure from Oscar Garcia’s side.

Both teams enjoyed their fair share of possession in the opening exchanges, however Albion were soon on top and Ashley Barnes went close with just under 20 minutes played.

Rising to meet a David Lopez corner, the striker could only look on as his headed effort was cleared off the post by Adam Hammill.

Albion continued to press though and were unfortunate not to take the lead when Kemy Agustien’s back-heel found a charging Barnes, but his driven effort flew wide.

David, Albion’s resident set-piece specialist, was next to go close as his free-kick evaded everyone before narrowly going wide of the Terriers’ far post.

Barnes then went close again, stretching to reach a Bruno through-ball, but Alex Smithies was out quickly to smother the loose ball in the last real action of the half.

Minutes after the break Albion went even closer to taking the lead as Agustien’s diving header could only be parried into Barnes’s path, before an awkward bounce off his knee saw it loop over the bar.

On the hour mark he went close again, heading wide from a clever David cross, before Peter Brezovan had to be alert – rushing off his line to close James Vaughan down as Huddersfield broke quickly.

Oscar threw Kazenga LuaLua and Leo Ulloa on as Albion looked to turn their domination into a deserved win, but a resolute Huddersfield backline held firm, ensuring the game remained goalless.
