Graham Potter has hailed the character, fight and personality of his side after they finished January unbeaten in six out of their seven matches.
The 1-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday was an excellent all-round team performance, but the boss says the application of his players is something he has been incredibly proud throughout the campaign.
He said, “It's quite easy to look at the results from over the last month as being quite favourable, but I've been delighted with the players over the course of the season.
“The group have stuck together and worked really hard. I'd say we've been a bit unlucky because the performances have probably warranted more points than they've got.”
Victory over Jose Mourinho's men takes Albion to 21 points ahead of Wednesday's trip to face Liverpool at Anfield.
“You have to suffer and face criticism, but the players have stood up to that and got their reward.
“We've got a long way to go but the quality of the performance, the effort and the personality of the players was amazing.
“I'm happy for our fans too because it was important to win at home and it's a step forward to improving that record.”
