Alexis Mac Allister's effort against Blackpool took a big deflection off Steven Alzate to give Albion the lead.

Alexis Mac Allister talks us through growing up as a football fan in Argentina, sharing the pitch with his family, watching English matches on television and more.

What is your earliest footballing memory, Alexis?

“I always played with my brothers and my father and uncle in Club Social y Deportivo Parque where I grew up before I moved to Argentinos Juniors.

“They all play professionally too. A big footballing family that's for sure!”

So, there was always a football being kicked around outside your house?

“Of course! Coming from a footballing family we talked about it a lot, whenever we were together. We watched a lot of matches and would always play whenever I could.

Who were your first footballing heroes?

“I always watch Juan Roman Riquelme, he was one of the best players in the world when I was growing up. I always liked Andreas Iniesta as well, both were great players.”

Alexis Mac Allister has been a regular starter in recent weeks.

What do you remember about watching the Premier League as a youngster?

“I watched Premier League football a lot on the television when I was younger.

“I remember seeing people like Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo play for Manchester United, there were so many good players in that side.

“I used to get up and watch matches early in the morning when I was a boy and it's great to be playing in the league now.”

You must be very proud to have achieved that at the age of 22 and settled into a new country.

“Yes, I am very proud with how my career has gone so far and to be playing at this level in England.

“I'm doing my best every day and trying to always improve at a great club who are growing.”
