Striker Rianna Jarrett feels 'extremely lucky' to be playing during the middle of the Covid-19 crisis.
And she would love to lift the mood of Albion fans by doubling her WSL goal tally for the season in Sunday's game against Birmingham City.
Albion had to call off last Sunday's match against Bristol City after two players tested positive for Covid-19 and five others had to self-isolate. They are hoping to play their first game for a month against the Blues.
“We had a whirlwind week with a couple of players testing positive and others having to isolate,” said Jarrett.
“But the club have been brilliant in answering any questions we've had and putting all the health protocols in place to make us as safe as possible, both around the club and when we are at home.
“I feel extremely lucky that I am still able to play and train every day. A lot of my friends back in Ireland can't play and it’s the same in England below elite level. I guess given how the virus is spreading we have been fortunate that we haven’t had any disruption until last week.”
Albion are looking for their first league win since Jarrett scored the winner against West Ham United in November.
The 26-year-old Ireland international joined the club a year ago and feels she has improved with the benefit of full-time training, but like all strikers she is desperate to score more goals.
“I knew it would be a massive step up when I went full-time last January but I feel lots of aspects of my game have got better, especially this season.
“Of course I would like even more game time like every player but I understand that Hope [Powell] will always pick the team she thinks can win a particular game. But hopefully I will get more opportunity in the second half of the season because it will give me even more chances to contribute with goals for the team.”
