Lewis Dunk has been captain since the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign.

Lewis Dunk has said that he is still developing as captain of the Albion.

Appointed to the role upon the arrival of Graham Potter at the start of last season, the centre-back believes he has learned a lot off the captains he has worked with in the past.

“I have been captain for two years now and I am still learning as I go. As a footballer you learn every day, no matter what it is, but I have had great captains to learn off before me; Bruno and Gordon Greer.

“I would say they are different types of captains to me – I am not so much of a talker, I try and do my talking on the pitch and try to lead by example.

Gordon Greer played for Albion between 2010-16.

“Fighting for my life on the pitch and making sure the ball doesn’t go in the net. I lead by that example.”

Dunk will be leading out the team against Arsenal at the Amex tomorrow - a team he is yet to lose to as captain - and he is expecting a tough match, despite the Gunners sitting 15th in the table.

“They are not performing as well as they usually do and they are having a tough time at the club," he added. "But they are a good side with world-class players and they can still beat anyone in this league.

“I am sure they will be working as hard as they can to get to the other end of the table. It will obviously be a tough game, but the last time we played them we beat them, so we know we can take positives out of that. We know we can beat them and hopefully we can do it again."
