Defender Fliss Gibbons wants Albion to use the three-week break to 'reset' before trying to climb the WSL table when the campaign resumes.

Hope Powell's team went into the break in ninth place after a 3-1 defeat to Reading on Sunday, but when they return on January 10th they face bottom of the table Bristol City and travel to Birmingham City, who are only one point above them, the following week.

Gibbons said, “We were disappointed not only with the result on Sunday but also our performance, it was a game we wanted to get something from and show that we have pushed on from last season.

Hope's Reading Reaction

“We still think that is the case, that we have improved. We will enjoy the Christmas break but know that we have to get better individually and collectively.”

Producing consistent performances remains a problem for Albion, according to Gibbons.

“It's something we're aware of. If we'd played as well on Sunday as we had against Chelsea we would have probably got a result.

“So this break is the chance for a reset. Historically, we are better after Christmas but we all know there is a lot of hard work ahead for us if we are going to improve in the second half of the season.”
