Tariq Lamptey made his Albion debut back in June against this evening's hosts.

Tariq Lamptey has hailed the club's coaching and playing staff for helping make the progress he has since his Premier League debut in June.

The defender pulled on an Albion shirt for the first time against Sunday's opponents Leicester City in June, and he feels he has improved in the six months since that 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium.

He said, “It was a really proud moment to make my debut for the club. Since then, I think I have got better and continued to improve. There are some fantastic coaches and players here at Brighton who have helped me to do that.

“I've played a lot of matches too which has helped that development. Hopefully step-by-step I can keep learning and adding to my game.”

Much has changed since that June evening at the King Power Stadium including the long-awaited return of fans to the Amex.

Albion supporters got their first live glimpse of the fleet-footed defender live on Monday night against Southampton and the 20-year-old says it felt good to play in front of fans.

“It was an experience I really enjoyed. I thought they were great. A couple of times when I was running down the wing I could really hear their roar and that definitely spurred me on, it was a fantastic feeling and we've all missed that.

“Hopefully in time we can welcome more of them back to come and watch us.”

Albion will be looking to follow up last month's victory at Aston Villa this evening and seal back-to-back wins on the road.

“We've played well in most of our games and you can see what we're trying to do,” added Lamptey. “We feel unlucky with certain results and moments in matches so far this season.

“Everyone's working hard to get the points we think our performances deserve and I have no doubt those will come. Leicester are an established side who are fighting in Europe too, so they have a big squad with a lot of quality.

“Whoever is playing for them they will be strong, but we are ready to face them and believe we can get a good result.”
