Pascal Gross sent Alex McCarthy the wrong way from 12-yards.

Pascal Gross believes Albion should have something to show from last night's match against Southampton.

Having fired in from the penalty spot, Gross and his teammates were unable to stop the visitors snatching all three points.

Jannik Vestergaard nodded in just before half-time, before Danny Ings converted from 12 yards after a contentious penalty decision went against Albion in the 79th minute to seal a 2-1 win.

“Both teams showed fight. The decision in the end is very hard, when you speak to the referee and the other players the first contact is outside the box, you could see it on the screen.

“When you get a decision like that it's difficult. For the foul, is it the first contact? Is it the second?”

Pascal Gross' penalty put Albion in front.

The result leaves Albion in 16th spot with the 29-year-old keen to see Albion's points tally start to reflect their performances.

“We started quite well, but I don't want to take anything away from Southampton. We deserved the lead, but there are small margins that need to go your way in the Premier League.

“We had chances to get a better result and that's the next step we have to take, we have to continue to make those chances and we have to convert more of them.”
