Solly March could reach a new level according to Graham Potter.

Graham Potter believes that if Solly March continues in the form he has started the season in, he could become a top player.

The 26-year-old is in a race to be fit for Friday's Premier League fixture against Burnley, having suffered an ankle injury at Tottenham on Sunday.

Potter said, “His ankle is not too bad and he's recovering well. He's been performing well in games – he's at a good, consistent level. The way we set up and try and attack suits him and that gets a lot out of him.

Solly March celebrates his goal against Manchester United.

“You saw against Manchester United the level he is capable of and if he can produce what he has been doing over the course of a season, then he will have gone to a new level.

“Everybody at the club would be delighted with that because we can see his potential and the ability he has in his game and it's our job to try and help him get there as much as we can.

“Part of the challenge we have is to find a solution if he's not available for Burnley, but I don’t want to rule him out yet because there is still some time and he can recover.”

Danny Welbeck came on for the final 20 minutes against Tottenham.

Danny Welbeck made his Albion debut against Spurs, with the former Manchester United and England striker edging closer to full match fitness.

“Danny is feeling better and better the more work he does – he hasn't had much team training because he was training on his own before joining us.

“It’s about that next step of playing with the team. We have still got time before Burnley and it depends how he reacts, but he is getting closer to the team.”

Potter's Burnley press conference

A full Premier League debut for Robert Sanchez against Tottenham highlighted the strength in depth that Potter now has at his disposal in the goalkeeper position.

“Christian Walton got injured, but he has battled back well and he’s at that stage where he's training fully, but they are all fantastic professionals. They do their best every day, they all want to play and put pressure on each other.”
