Albion under-18s moved up to fifth in the Under-18s Premier League with the win over Leicester.

Under-18s coach Mark Beard revealed that the current group of under-18s are the best he has worked at the club in terms of their attitude and desire to get better.

He was speaking after they demolished Leicester City 7-1 on Saturday.

Andrew Moran fired in a hat-trick against Leicester City.

Leicester equalised Albion's second-minute opener but they regained the lead and went on to run riot with Andrew Moran scoring a hat-trick, Cameron Peupion two and Marcus Ifill and Matt Everitt one each.

The result lifts them up to fifth in the Premier League Under-18s table, with the best goal difference in the division of plus ten.

After scoring twice in their opening three league matches, Albion have found their shooting boots, netting 16 times in their last four outings.

Cameron Peupion's brace takes him up to four goals for the season.

Summer recruits Moran and Peupion have scored four each and the Australian also has an assist to his name.

Beard said, “It's the best group I have had since I have been here in terms of their desire to learn, they just enjoy it so much.

“The most pleasing thing was the goals we scored were the type we have been working on in training, using width as well as good combinations through the middle.

“Although it was a frantic start, once we got our second we saw Leicester drop their heads a little bit and we punished them. We're averaging about 20 attempts on goal a game and against Leicester we had 26, we’re creating so many chances.

"The important thing is we are starting to take those chances and we didn't take our foot off the pedal. We kept going – it’s a good trait to have.

“We were 5-1 up at half-time and we told them to stick to what we had worked on. The reality is we could have scored more. They're really confident at the moment."

Beard also paid tribute to members of his backroom staff.

“Our strength and conditioning coach Callum Brashill has tailored his sessions really well, and our performance analyst Rhianna Farr goes through every session with the players. They have been brilliant and helped the players kick on.”
