Danny Welbeck believes he can help Albion finish in the top ten.

Danny Welbeck believes he can play his part in helping Albion become a top-ten Premier League club.

He said, “I know if I can contribute in the way that I want, it will help the club achieve success and that is something I am looking to do.

“I have targets and I want to be playing and doing the thing that I love.”

Having left Watford at the end of last season, Welbeck says he lacks match sharpness but believes the way that Graham Potter’s style of play will help him get up to speed quickly.

“I feel fit and strong and hopefully I can be involved soon. I am ready.

“I can get in behind, I can hold up the ball and when I get my chances I can put them away. I think the philosophy of the club and the way the manager wants to play is something that will suit my game really well.

“I am a football man and I watch all the games on TV. You envisage yourself playing in different teams and how you think that you can make a difference. This will be a really good fit.”

The former Manchester United and Arsenal man still harbours ambitions of playing for his country again. He has won 42 England caps and played in the 2014 World Cup alongside Adam Lallana and the 2018 tournament, but knows he needs to deliver again at club level first.

“There’s a lot of competition and there’s some great players in those forward positions for England.

“But my first target is to give my all for Brighton. My mission is to score goals. Anything that happens after that is a bonus.”
