Inessa Kaagman is looking forward to taking on her former side Everton this weekend.

Inessa Kaagman is excited to play against her former side Everton tomorrow, but is fully focused on securing a result for Albion.

The midfielder spent two years with the Toffees, making 41 appearances, before her time there came to a premature end due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

She said, “I went home in early March, so I had to say goodbye through Skype, which was a bit different. We haven’t had a chance to say goodbye properly, as I haven’t seen them since, but they have brought seven or eight new players now.

"I think they have a good team and they have invested very well, so I’m not surprised that they have made a good start.

“It’s going to be exciting for me to play against Everton. I had a good two years with them and I enjoyed it. But now I’ve made the step over to Brighton and I’m excited to be here.

Kaagman Excited to Face Old Friends

"I feel very comfortable here and I am very happy, which is the most important thing because that will allow me to perform at my best.”

The 24-year-old wants to take any emotion out of the game and concentrate solely on performing for her new side.

“I don’t think there is anything personal in it for me, I just want to win the game like I do every game. Of course it’s special to play against your old club but I don’t approach it differently because if I did it wouldn’t be my normal preparation.”

The ex-Ajax player is also keen to help the Albion to kick on after a mixed start to the season.

Inessa Kaagman opened his account for the campaign with a goal against Birmingham City.

“We have had a hard start to the season with City, United, Arsenal and now Everton. They are tough games, but I think overall we are improving every game, so for us it’s quite positive.

“As a professional footballer, you want to win everything, so when you lose by big numbers like 5-0 [against Arsenal] it can be hard to take any positives. You have to review it and watch it back, but you can’t be unhappy for the whole week as every week there is a new game.

“I want to be at Brighton playing as high up the league as possible. Personally, I want to help the team as much as possible, whether that’s with goals or assists I don’t mind, as long as it helps the team.”
