Brighton & Hove Albion are asking fans to show their support for the safe return of supporters to football stadiums by signing the ‘Allow football fans to attend matches at all levels’ petition launched yesterday.
Yesterday also saw Premier League chief executive Richard Masters, as one of a number of senior executives, co-write an open letter to fans in which The Premier League, EFL, The FA, Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship said they’d continue to urge the government to reconsider.
Prior to new guidelines that halted pilot events at matches, Albion safely and successfully held the first post-lockdown test event which saw 2500 fans attend a pre-season friendly against Chelsea.
Feedback from supporters was hugely positive, with fans saying they felt safe and protected at the event, while Albion crowd doctor and Royal Sussex County Hospital A&E consultant Rob Galloway confirmed last weekend that the test event caused no spike in local cases of coronavirus.
