Adam Webster also spoke of how much he enjoys working with Graham Potter.

Adam Webster was full of praise for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin after he was called up to the senior England squad for the first time on Thursday.

Calvert-Lewin has begun the new season in a rich vein of form, finding the back of the net five times in the Toffees’ opening three Premier League matches – and hit a cup hat-trick in a 4-0 win over West Ham.

Webster ready to face in-form forwards

Webster said, “He's been on fire – he's got a bit of everything to his game. He works hard, he’s good in the air, can hold the ball up and he has shown now that he can finish.

“He's scoring a lot of goals so it will be a tough test on Saturday, but we’re really up for it.”

The 25-year-old has been part of a defensive back three this season – playing alongside Lewis Dunk and Ben White – and is enjoying the expansive style Graham Potter has played in Albion’s first three Premier League games.

“He’s been brilliant. The way that we play there’s sometimes going to be mistakes with bringing the ball out from the back. The manager will say that's what he's asking us to do and if that does happen then he'll take responsibility as well.

Graham Potter and Adam Webster celebrate after the first clean sheet of the season at Newcastle.

“That takes a bit of pressure off our shoulders – say there's some managers that, if you make a mistake, you probably won't feature for a while so that can be difficult.

“But our manager certainly isn’t like that and it gives us every confidence going out on to the pitch, which is at the end of the day what everyone wants.”
