Albion’s Leo Ostigard is enjoying his first taste of senior English football after joining Coventry City on loan for the season.

The 20-year-old central defender has started all three Championship games for the Sky Blues and says the team can be proud of the way they’ve settled following promotion last term.

He said, “It’s been a good start to the season considering we are new to the division.

“It’s a tough league and we’ve already found about the fine margins at this level, but we got a good win against QPR and a clean sheet away from home in our last game against Barnsley.

“There’s plenty to build on. Whenever you move it takes a little time to get used to a new team and environment but I want to show my qualities and keep getting better.”

Leo Ostigard spent last season on loan with German second division side St Pauli.

Ostigard spent last term at St Pauli in Germany’s second tier. He made 29 appearances in all competitions and scored in his last game of the season.

“The level is a little bit higher in the Championship than the second division in Germany, and of course there are more teams as well.

“It's always been my ambition to play in a league like this one and I believe I have the ability to perform consistently at this level.

“We play good football and we have good coaches so I’m optimistic about what we can achieve this season.”

Ostigard has settled into Leamington Spa, a far cry from the bustle of Hamburg but he’s enjoying the Warwickshire countryside.

“I’m living by myself and it’s a nice place. Hamburg was of course something special and a big city, but I really like it and have been enjoying my time here.”

Coventry sit 12th in the table ahead of tonight’s game against AFC Bournemouth at St Andrew’s, and the on-loan Albion man is optimistic about what Mark Robins’ men can achieve this term.

“We’ve played well in the early part of the season and showed we can compete, but we have a big game against AFC Bournemouth tonight and that’s another big opportunity to get some points on the board. I am confident that we can have a really good year.”
