Ben White helped Albion keep their first league clean sheet of the campaign in the 3-0 win at Newcastle last weekend.

Graham Potter is delighted with how Ben White has settled into the Premier League.

The 22-year-old was part of the defence that kept their first Premier League clean sheet of the new season last weekend against Newcastle.

“He’s got a big future and a lot of attributes that are suitable for the top, but at the same time he’s still making the adjustment to the Premier League,” said Potter.

Graham Potter believes Ben White is adapting well to life in the top-tier.

“He’s also making an adjustment from Leeds where he had a fantastic experience and development process under Marcelo Bielsa.

“He has then adapted to a different style of football here with us and new teammates - that’s been his challenge and he’s taken it on really well.

“He will get better and better as time goes on and he is a level-headed guy. He wants to enjoy his football and we want to help him reach his maximum.”

Potter was also asked about White’s team-mate Lewis Dunk when he looked ahead to this lunchtime’s game with Manchester United at the Amex.

Lewis Dunk has grown as both a player and a captain according to Graham Potter.

“He’s been brilliant, the boss added. “He’s grown as a player, grown as a captain and grown as a person.

“He’s developed a lot, especially post-lockdown with the way he dealt with everything, brought the group together and acted around everybody. We love him and we love working with him.”

Albion fielded an all-English defensive line-up in the victory over Newcastle with Tariq Lamptey, Adam Webster and Solly March alongside White and Dunk.

“Them being the same nationality just happened, and we’ve got other options as well - players who are competing and pushing those guys,” added Potter.

“But it’s exciting for English football that there’s some young guys that can maybe push for the national team as we go forward.”
