Sussex Skills have pledged £1million to help retrain and upskill people in Sussex following the Coronavirus pandemic.

1901 Club Lounge Sponsors, Sussex Skills Solutions, has pledged £1million to help retrain and upskill people in Sussex following the Coronavirus pandemic.

The training provider, which is part of East Sussex College Group, is investing £1million of its Adult Education Budget to support economic recovery in Sussex with a range of fully-funded courses and qualifications.

Sussex Skills Solutions has identified and developed a suite of online qualifications to support job-seekers, furloughed staff, and businesses so that they can adapt to the current challenges that the pandemic has created.

Qualifications in Digital Skills, LEAN Management, Equality & Diversity, and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace have been designed to offer the skills and resilience for post-covid recovery.

Russ Wood, Head of Commercial at Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club, said, “The pandemic has affected many local Sussex businesses, so we’re pleased to support Sussex Skills Solutions’ initiative. It’s a fantastic opportunity for employers to upskill their workforce during this particularly difficult and challenging time.”

Captain Lewis Dunk added, “This is a great initiative from Sussex Skills Solutions. As a Sussex-based business it is great to see them helping the local economy recover from the effects of the pandemic.”

Dan Shelley, Executive Director, Strategic Partnerships & Engagement at East Sussex College, said, “We are very excited to launch this investment as part of our wider support package for local businesses and communities during these difficult times. We want to be as responsive and flexible in our approach as possible, working with partners to provide the right training at the right time as we move out of this pandemic.”

The courses provide nationally-recognised qualifications, which can be achieved in 8-12 weeks. You will be able to study online through escg.theskillsnetwork.com, and have access to one-to-one support and assistance.
