Matt Clarke's Derby made it through to the next round of the competition.

Matt Clarke’s Derby County are through to the second round of the Carabao Cup after a penalty shootout victory over Barrow on Saturday.

The defender played just over an hour of the match for Philip Cocu’s men before the Rams won 3-2 on spot kicks.

Derby will face Preston North End in the next stage of the competition, and the winner of that tie will face Albion should the Seagulls overcome Portsmouth at the Amex in their second round tie.

Elsewhere in the competition, goalkeeper Tom McGill made his professional debut for Crawley Town on Saturday.

The Reds lost 3-1 at home to Millwall as goals from Scott Malone, Matt Smith and an own goal from Jordan Tunnicliffe cancelled out a strike from Sam Ashford for the hosts, but McGill made some good saves and impressed on his senior debut.

Taylor Richards was also in action for his loan club, as Doncaster Rovers lost 3-2 away to Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. The Albion midfielder played 73 minutes for Darren Moore's men.

Ryan Longman and AFC Wimbledon were also involved in a penalty shootout but were on the wrong end of a 4-3 defeat on penalties after a 1-1 draw against Oxford United.

The on-loan Albion midfielder was substituted with 71 minutes on the clock.
