Neal Maupay believes Albion can build on last season’s record Premier League points tally.

It was the Frenchman’s first campaign in the Premier League and he found the back of the net ten times in what was an impressive debut season.

He said, “I got ten goals and three assists. It was good although I am never satisfied. I want more, I believe I could have done more and I could have played better even without scoring goals.

“I think last season showed that I can be a successful player in the Premier League, but I want to do more. I am not satisfied and I don’t think I ever will be, I always want to do more for the team.

Maupay nets the in the 2-1 win at the Emirates with a fantastic header.

“The Premier League is the best in the world. Coming from the Championship I wasn’t worried, I was confident in myself and I know I can score goals in any league in the world. But it’s not always only about that, it’s about how you get on with your teammates and your manager.

“I am pleased with how it went. I now feel 100% part of the team and the club and I can’t wait to start the next season because I believe we can be even better.”

The 24-year-old has an enjoyable year working with Graham Potter, and says that the head coach’s honest approach has helped him.

Graham Potters gives the Albion fans a thumbs up after the 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

“When I signed the boss didn’t promise me anything, he just told me he thought I could be a good fit for the team, his project and how he wants to play,” added Maupay.

“He told me ‘if you join Brighton we will look after you, we will play you and we will improve you’. He’s honest, he’s not false. When you speak with him you know he’s telling the truth. I had a good feeling and I made the 100% right choice to join the club.”

The striker has also enjoyed life outside of football in Sussex.

“I do like living here,” he added. “Brighton is a very good city, and when the weather is sunny it’s brilliant!

“The fans recognise me sometimes and they are always really nice. These are small things but it makes me feel good.”
