Danny Cashman has signed a new one-year contract with the Albion.

Under-23s forward Danny Cashman has signed a new one-year deal with the option for a further 12 months with Albion.

The 19-year-old has been at the club for eight years, working his way up the Academy ranks and is now a regular in Simon Rusk’s under-23s squad.

Cashman said, “It’s been a long process with the Covid-19 situation slowing things down, but I am delighted to sign a new contract and am looking forward to getting on with the new season.

“I have a strong link with the club. I have been here since I was 11. I am a young adult now and hopefully I can stay here until it’s been ten years.”

Cashman's new deal will see him extend his eight year stay with the Seagulls.

Cashman has noticed a marked improvement in his ability over the past year, and puts a lot of that down to working with Rusk.

“Simon has been very important for my personal development,” he added.

“He’s a very good manager in terms of the way he sets us up to play and I think he gets the best out of me. He has helped me a lot, especially in the last year. I recognise an improvement especially in areas of the game which I struggled with.

Simon Rusk 'gets the best' out of Danny Cashman, according to the young striker.

“I would get frustrated sometimes, but at this age group there is no room for that and Simon has helped me deal with that side of my game. If a mistake happens, which it will, you have to deal with it and move on.”

The under-23 coach has been impressed by Cashman’s play since he moved up from the under-18s.

“He is an intelligent player,” said Rusk. “His movement his good and he has proved that if he gets decent service then he can score important goals, which he has done for the under-23s.

“He’s very clever and he needs to carry on being difficult for defenders to pick up and mark and to carry on showing that precision in front of goal.”
