Tariq Lamptey has hailed the impact club coach Bruno has had since he broke into the Albion team.

The 19-year-old made his first Premier League start for the club against Leicester City, and has now made eight appearances since his January move from Chelsea.

Lamptey said, “When you come into a new environment, where there are players playing at the highest level, you want to soak up as much knowledge as possible.

“The gaffer has got great experience and he has helped me a great deal about how I can improve my position and obviously there’s a club legend here in Bruno who played hundreds of games at right-back. You can only learn from that.

“I am privileged to have people around me that can help me take my game to the next level. Bruno has been excellent at helping me develop and he knows what it’s like playing in the Premier League.”

Lamptey says he gets his strong work ethic from his parents.

“It’s just the way I have been brought up – I have been blessed with fantastic parents, they always instilled in me from a young age to be polite and humble, to work hard and to focus,” he said. “They gave everything for me to be in this position. When I go out and play, I do it to make them happy.”

Reflecting on his January move, the England Under-20 international said it was hard to leave Stamford Bridge, but he felt that he had better opportunities at Brighton.

“It was a really tough decision as I had been at Chelsea since a very young age and I had got a foundation there.

“But I spoke to my family and it felt the right time to take the next step in my development and Brighton is a fantastic club with excellent coaches. We have a manager that wants to develop young players and I feel that we are building a really good project that hopefully I can be a part of.”
