New Albion man Jensen Weir says that he can’t wait to hit the ground running following his switch to the Seagulls.
The 18-year-old joined the club last week after ten years with Wigan Athletic.
He said, “Everything about the place is fantastic and I’m really looking forward to getting started.
“I’d been at Wigan for a long time and now felt like the right time to change. Brighton felt like the right place for me, the pathway is there and the facilities can help me get better as a player so it feels like a really good fit.
“My aim is to get into the first team here but I want to settle in, get used to the team, enjoy my football and go from there.”
Weir made his senior debut for Wigan on 7th November 2017, in an EFL Trophy game against Accrington Stanley, becoming the club's youngest ever player, at the age of 15 years and 280 days.
“It was strange – I didn’t expect it to be honest,” he added. “I was told a few days before the game by my Dad.
“I came on during the game and then went back into school the next day.
"Everyone was talking about it, but I didn’t think too much of it although looking back now to go back into classes the next day was quite surreal. I felt I played well and the whole thing was a good experience.”
