Lewis Dunk prepares for a set-piece against Burnley.

Captain Lewis Dunk was delighted after Albion achieved the ambition they set out at the start of the season to break the club record points haul for a Premier League campaign.

Having collected 40 points in the Seagulls’ first campaign in the top-tier in 2017/18, Albion went one better with a 2-1 win against Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday.

Yves Bissouma scored from 20 yards with a sumptuous strike before Aaron Connolly cleverly curled in the winner early in the second half.

Dunk said, “We scored two very good goals. I would say the first is goal of the season from Yves Bissouma. Aaron Connolly has been desperate for a goal and he did ever so well to find the back of the net from that angle.

Delight for midfielder Yves Bissouma after he scored his first Premier League goal.

“I thought we started a little bit slowly and that they were the better side but then we created the better chances in the first half.

“We set out to break our points record at the start of the season. We’ve made it tough for ourselves at than we should have done but it’s a nice achievement to have done it in the last game and a good way to finish things off.

“It will be a short break, but we’ll be ready when it starts again in September to try and do better.

“But we need the break because it’s been a long old season.”
