Albion’s Bernardo was honest in his post-match reflections following Manchester City’s 5-0 win over the Seagulls on Saturday evening.
A hat-trick from Raheem Sterling and further goals from Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva gave Pep Guardiola’s men a convincing win.
“City deserved the win tonight and we can have no complaints,” he said.
“We didn’t play well, against Liverpool on Wednesday we had a good game and we were able to compete, but that wasn’t the case today. They’re in really good form and showed that tonight.”
Bernardo was making his 15th appearance of the 2019/20 campaign for Graham Potter’s men and spoke about the challenges of facing one of the country’s top sides.
“Without the fans it’s very difficult, once you go one or two goals down then it becomes even tougher against such a top side,” he added.
“We played better at the start of the second half and we tried to press them to get back in the game.
“That gave them a bit more space in attacking areas and they’re good enough to exploit those openings.”
