Albion skipper Lewis Dunk thanks the fans.

Our last few home games of the season, against some of the best teams in the world, were always going to be tough even with a full Amex crowd behind us and so much to play for.

But the world has changed in ways we couldn’t have imagined a few months ago. All the players are pleased to be playing again but it’s going to be very strange to come out of the tunnel at the Amex on Saturday against Arsenal and not be greeted by a wall of blue and white noise from thousands of Albion fans.

We’ve had a few warm-up games at the Amex in the last couple of weeks to try and get used to what it will be like. We’re going to have to adapt but it’s the same for both teams and it’s still our home ground and our matchday routines will be the same. And we’ll still have the same buzz we always have when we wake up on Saturday knowing what’s at stake.

The club has always had a great relationship with the fans and the community, and I think that has been even more noticeable during the last few months. We’re proud as players to have played our part to help those less fortunate than us.

We have always been strong in their belief that we can stage games at the Amex safely, even without fans in the ground. So, on behalf of all the players, please don’t come to the stadium on matchdays because you will be putting the club’s reputation at risk. We know it’s going to be difficult cheering us on from your living room, but we also know that our fans will be behind us 100% as we look to finish the season strongly. Send us your messages of support on social media – they’ll mean even more to all the squad at this difficult time.

We can’t wait for Saturday and also for the day when the stadium is full again and 30,000 Albion fans are singing ‘Sussex by the Sea.’

My best wishes to you all and on behalf of all the lads we are truly grateful for you continued support in these difficult times for everyone. We will succeed!

Stay safe – Lewis.
