With the Albion As One fund having raised more than £370,000 since it was launched by our playing squad in April, donations are now beginning to make a real difference to local people.

One of the beneficiaries of the Albion As One fund has been city-based Together Co.

Together Co is a loneliness charity that’s creating connections to change lives. They do this through their befriending, social prescribing and volunteering services in Brighton, Hove and beyond, and by sharing their ideas and expertise nationally.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic took hold, their befriending service has seen a 800% increase in people seeking support. Together Co have been at the heart of the city-wide Covid-19 response both in terms of scaling up some of their services, flexing others, and being part of the crisis response structure.

Their team of staff and over 500 volunteers are working around the clock to support the rapidly increasing number of vulnerable people in Brighton & Hove, helping them to maintain social contact and to ensure they have access to essentials and information to stay safe.

Funding is more critical than ever to ensure they can support extremely isolated people in the city. Albion As One’s donation will not only assist to fund essential frontline work and offer more phone-based befriending but will also ensure Together Co can focus on putting people in touch with volunteers, process many more volunteer applications and train up befrienders as quickly as possible to meet huge demand.

Albion As One’s donation means Together Co can power ahead to reach many more people in Brighton & Hove communities who need their help right now and will continue to do so.
