Players have teamed up to make a substantial six-figure donation to kick off a new charity fund for local charities.

With the Albion As One fund having raised more than £370,000 since it was launched by the club’s Premier League squad in April, donations are now beginning to make a real difference to local people.

One of the beneficiaries of the Albion As One fund has been to the Brighton branch of the Samaritans.

Director Susie McGowan said: “We are so grateful for your really generous donation from Albion as One. Samaritans is a critical service and we know we are needed more now than ever.

“Coronavirus is impacting all of our lives, with many people feeling anxious and stressed. There’s no doubt that these uncertain and challenging times can affect our mental health and wellbeing.

“This donation is helping us to stay open and able to speak to our callers, and respond by email, and we know this makes a huge difference. We are here to help the community and knowing that we have your support really helps us carry on.”
