Adam Webster has suggested that the long break from top-flight action could work in Albion’s favour as they prepare for the remaining nine matches of the 2019/20 campaign.

The Seagulls sit 15th in the Premier League on 29 points and will return to action on Saturday 20th June against Arsenal behind closed doors at the Amex.

“The break could help us – it’s given everyone time to reflect and it’s allowed people a chance to get away from the pressures we were facing,” he said.

“We don’t normally get much of a break during the season, so it may work in our favour. Everyone is raring to go again now and perhaps this came at a good time for us – we will see.

“Now we want to finish the season strongly. There will be a lot of matches so our rest and recovery will be vital. There’ll be midweek games and you don’t get too many of the in the Premier League.

“We’ll have to do deal with that. The club have been brilliant over the last few months and I know they’ll make sure we’re all up to speed again.”

Barber back at the Amex

Members of the under-23 squad have been integrated into the sessions since training resumed and one of the youngsters has caught Webster’s eye.

“Before we went back to contact training we had a lot of running sessions,” he said. “I had Haydon Roberts in my group and he’s a machine, so I found that difficult!

“But all of the younger lads have made the step up and enjoyed their time with so it’s worked well for everyone.”
