Steven Downs is raising money for Martlets Hospice by cycling from Brighton to Barcelona on his static bike.

He has set himself a target of raising £1,000 for the hospice in Hove by covering the 875 miles on a York Active 110 Cycle.

But Steve is making sure he is amply rewarded for his efforts.

He said: “I’ve be treating myself to croissants, coffee and wine throughout virtual France and will be switching to tapas, paella and San Miguel once I’ve crossed the border.

“I've done 850 km so far, so not long to go now. For the final 5 km, I plan to have my wife standing close by with a beer ready for when I finally reach the beaches of virtual Barcelona, where Bruno is from.

“I'm raising money for the Martlets Hospice, a local charity in Hove that means a lot to our family.”

Bruno said: “Wow, to cycle all that way on a static bike is a brilliant effort by Steve. He deserves many beers when he reaches his target and I wish him all the best, he is raising money for a great cause."
