How you can help NHS and other frontline workers

The club is looking at different ways we can assist our local NHS trusts in Sussex in the fight against the coronavirus, and also show our support for our amazing NHS staff and other key frontline workers.

We will continue to do everything we can to help – and there are two ways our brilliant fans can show their support.

Firstly, Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS charitable funds have a JustGiving page, where you can make a donation online.

This will go directly to hospitals and the staff at the NHS working so hard in the fight against coronavirus. And please tick the Gift Aid box if you are eligible.

You may want to print and display our free PDF ‘thank you’ poster for NHS staff and key workers or download our graphic for your social media account.

Chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber said, “We can’t thank our NHS and frontline workers, both here in our community and throughout the country, enough for what they are doing during these unprecedented times.

“Anything as a community we can do to support them we should try and do to show our gratitude for the hard work and sacrifices they make on a daily basis.”

Of course, the single, most important thing you can do to help the NHS and its staff is by following theirs and the government’s guidelines.

Everyone must stay at home to help stop the spread of coronavirus

You should only leave the house for 1 of 4 reasons:

  • shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible
  • one form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle – alone or with members of your household
  • any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person
  • travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home

How to stop infection spreading:

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with coronavirus.

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • wash your hands as soon as you get back home
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
