Albion defender Dan Burn salutes the travelling fans at Molineux earlier this month.

Dan Burn says Albion should not fear a tough run of fixtures when the Premier League season resumes.

In a statement on Thursday, the League reiterated its desire to complete the campaign which was halted last week because of the coronavirus pandemic. There will be no matches until at least 30th April, but the FA have granted permission for leagues to continue beyond 1st June.

Albion are due to host Manchester United in their next game and also have matches against runaway leaders Liverpool, Manchester City and Leicester City among their nine remaining fixtures.

Burn said, “When we do start again, we’ll have to bang on it. We will have a tough run of games, but we beat Arsenal and Tottenham this season so I don’t we’re looking at the next few games thinking we’re not going to pick up any points. The reality is we’ll need to pick up points.

“We have shown a different side to our play in the last few weeks before the break. We’ve been nice to watch this season but Sheffield United and Wolves away from home, and the comeback from 3-1 down against West Ham, were good performances. People were saying that maybe we were a bit soft but those games showed it’s not the case.”

With the club's training ground closed for the next two weeks, players are training at home using individual training programmes, which have been prepared by technical director Dan Ashworth, head coach Graham Potter, coaches and sports science specialists

“It’s been a bit strange,” admitted Burn. “I have been doing fitness work I might in the off season, such as going for runs. I haven’t got any gym equipment in my house so it’s a bit of old-school fitness stuff – press-ups - just to keep ticking over.

“We all want the season to finish as we’re the majority of the way through it but we will be guided by what the club and the Premier League say.”
