Aileen Whelan has fought off competition from Chelsea goalkeeper Carly Telford, Liverpool’s Rachel Furness, Manchester City’s Lauren Hemp and Martha Thomas of West Ham United to claim the prize, which was awarded aftera fan vote.
The 28-year-old put in a string of fine displays for Albion in February, netting two Barclays FA Women’s Super League goals in the process, which secured the Seagulls a valuable four points.
Whelan scored the only goal of the game against Everton at the start of the month, slotting into the top corner from Amanda Nilden’s knockdown.

The forward was on target again ten days later, scoring the equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United with a close-range header.
Whelan now has six goals to her name this season in all competitions.
It’s the first time this season that an Albion player has been named Player of the Month, and the first since goalkeeper Sophie Harris received the accolade last February.
Manager Hope Powell said, "Aileen has been brilliant for us this season. She hasn't played a great deal up front before now but she works so hard and takes her chances. We're all delighted that she has won this award."
