The Seagulls head to Molineux on Saturday after a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace when they had a record 24 shots at goal but little luck in front of goal. That was summed up when Neal Maupay inadvertently blocked Lewis Dunk’s header on the line in the second half.
Potter said, “I know that life isn’t one steady upwards curve, you have to deal with setbacks and failures.
“Everybody wants to win, that’s what convinces people. But this is elite sport and there has to be a realisation that we won’t always get things right. We have to focus on going forward. We have ten games left and 30 points up for grabs and that’s a wonderful challenge.
“It’s about turning the margins in our favour. They’re small ones but it takes a big effort. I have every confidence in our players and the togetherness there is in the group.”

Wolves were 3-2 winners at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday to move to sixth in the table and Potter has admired their steady rise under Nuno Espirito Santo.
“They’ve done amazingly well and full credit has to go to the manager for getting them promoted and then stable in the Premier League.
“They’ve been on a good European run and maintained their level. They’re well organised and are competing for a top four spot.
“They have a really dangerous front three and have a good mix of attacking qualities. They’ll be tough opponents this weekend, but we go there with confidence and optimism - we’ll be up for the fight.”

Another difficult home game with Arsenal follows tomorrow’s fixture, not that Potter is looking too far ahead.
“We have to focus on ourselves and not think about external things too much. You can’t look any further than the next game, otherwise you overthink.
“Rather than worrying about what might or might not happen we’ll make sure our attention is on our game.”
