Fliss Gibbons believes the sky’s the limit for her Albion team-mate Maya Le Tissier as the young defender continues her development at international level this week.

Le Tissier, who has captained England under-17s, is in Spain to play for the under-19s in the prestigious La Manga tournament against USA, Sweden and Denmark.

The 17-year-old from the Channel Islands has established herself alongside Gibbons in Albion’s defence this season.

“I really think the sky’s the limit for Maya and I’d be very surprised if she’s not an England centre-half in the future,” said Gibbons.

“It’s hard to believe she is 17 when you play along side her. She has been brilliant for us.

“Technically she is very good, and she reads the game so well. She can bring the ball out of defence and is very focused.

“She is also very grounded. She talks to our coaching staff all the time about ways she can improve. I think she has got the ability and attitude to go all the way.”

Le Tissier will be back with Albion early next week to prepare for their FA Cup quarter-final against Birmingham City on Sunday 15th March at The People’s Pension Stadium in Crawley (2pm).
