Potter's Palace press conference

Neal Maupay scored in the 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park in December and the Frenchman was also on target when he grabbed his eighth goal of the season last weekend against Sheffield United.

Potter praised the capabilities of both him and Glenn Murray, discussing the possibilities of playing them as both a pair or individually.

“Both can play together or on their own, we’re lucky to have both of them and they’re different types of players in their own right,” the boss added.

“They’ll both score goals. All things are possible. Everybody’s fired up and ready, everyone’s had a good training week and wants to play.

“It’s a challenge because you have to choose the right combinations and team. But I’m delighted with the spirit, quality and togetherness that the lads have been showing this week – now we have to transfer it into Saturday.”

Potter on Palace rivalry

The head coach was also asked about the progress of Colombian international Steven Alzate when he met the media and praised the characteristics of the midfielder who only made his Premier League debut back in September.

“Steven has been training well and is a consistent character,” added Potter.

“He’s at the start of his career and has had a breakthrough season. This time last year he was playing for Swindon, so it’s a big step.

“He’s the sort of person who’s very level-headed and that’s a great thing to have, he’s going to have a big future with us, I have no doubt about that. He’s one of many players who’s ready to play on Saturday, I have some decisions to make.”
