Albion goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has signed a new deal with the club.

Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has agreed a new contract until June 2023.

The 22-year-old Spaniard is currently on loan with Rochdale, where he has had an impressive season for the League One side in both league and cup, playing against Manchester United at Old Trafford and Newcastle United earlier in the campaign.

Albion's Technical director Dan Ashworth said, “Robert has performed really well this season for Rochdale and we’ve been really encouraged by his progress.

Robert Sanchez has been in impressive form for Rochdale this season.

“He is still relatively young for a goalkeeper, but the experience he is gaining playing regular senior football is helping his development, and we are really pleased he has committed to this new longer-term contract.

“We will continue to monitor his progress with Rochdale through until the end of the season and the summer and pre-season will give us a chance to further assess Robert’s next step going into next season.”

Sanchez spent the first half of last season with Forest Green Rovers in League Two, and has amassed more than 50 senior appearances in the last two years.
