The Frenchman’s eighth goal of the season after 31 minutes cancelled out Enda Stevens’ opener for the Blades.

He said, “For us it’s a massive point. Sheffield United is always a tough place to come and we had to defend for most of the game and it’s perhaps a game we might have lost a few weeks ago.

“We are very happy with our performance. It could be an important result at the end of the season.”

Maupay delighted to be back on scoresheet

Maupay was delighted to return to goalscoring form when he netted from close range after Adam Webster nodded down Aaron Mooy’s free kick.

“I have been struggling for the last weeks,” he admitted. “I’ve had a few chances without scoring so I have been annoyed with myself but I am happy to get a goal today.

“I know their defenders from the Championship, they are strong and physical but we dealt with their commitment and it was a great battle, I enjoyed the game.

“We’ve shown that desire to defend. We need to fight in every game like it’s the last one and we need to build on this and keep going.”
