Blades’ boss Chris Wilder has overseen two promotions to get them into the top flight and Potter says he aspires to build a similar identity and legacy at Albion.

He said, “They’ve been on a journey and we’re in the early stages of ours. They’ve had that winning feeling and a belief in one another.

“Their players buy into the way they play and that’s been confirmed with their two promotions. They’ve kept building and have a real strength.

“If you look at any club that’s what brings success. The challenge for us is to try and create that, but we need to win more games. That’s how confidence and belief grows.

“Can clubs follow that path they’ve set? Of course, and it makes sense to do so. But I also know you have to get results otherwise people lose those confidence in those ideas.”

Alexis Mac Allister could make his debut after returning from his loan spell with Boca Juniors and Potter has been impressed with the midfielder after working with him for the first time this week.

“He’s happy to be here. He has made a big move by leaving a team like Boca Juniors and coming into the Premier League,” the boss added.

“He’s been good in training but as always I want to make sure I do the right thing for him and the group. Like anything you have to adapt, but he’s intelligent and has a desire to play. While you have those qualities, you have a chance.

“I spoke to him on Wednesday and he’s doing well and even enjoying the weather at the moment! He just wants to be out on the pitch now.”
