Loan round-up: Sanders off the mark

Despite there being no Albion game at the weekend, a number of the club’s loan players were in action abroad and across the EFL with the headlines going to Max Sanders.

Max Sanders scored his first senior goal at the weekend.

The 21-year-old scored his first senior goal for AFC Wimbedon in a 2-2 draw away at Rotherham United.

Sanders gave the Dons the lead with 30 minutes on the clock with a stunning 25-yard strike, but the League One leaders hit back through goals from Matt Crooks and Freddie Ladapo before Wimbledon made it 2-2 deep into stoppage time through Kwesi Appiah.

In the Championship, Jayson Molumby played the full 90 minutes of Millwall’s 1-0 win away at Preston North End on Saturday, a result which lifts them up to tenth in the Sky Bet Championship table. Shaun Hutchinson scored what proved to be the winner in the 78th minute.

Meanwhile, Christian Walton was also on the winning side for Blackburn Rovers in their 2-0 victory against Charlton Athletic, courtesy of goals from John Buckley and Tosin Adarabiyo.

Ben White helped Leeds United continue their promotion charge, as Luke Ayling’s first-half strike proved to be the difference in a 1-0 win at home to Bristol City.

Matt Clarke had to settle for a share of the spoils with Derby County, after a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town. Tom Lawrence gave the Rams the lead just past the hour mark, before Harry Toffolo struck late on for the Terriers.

Leon Balogun made his second appearance for Wigan Athletic in a 2-2 draw away at Cardiff City, where fellow Albion loanee Jan Mlakar was an unused substitute.

Kieffer Moore back-heeled Wigan in front, but Josh Murphy brought the Bluebirds back on level terms three minutes later. Moore struck again for Wigan to reclaim their lead, before Kal Naismith scored another equaliser for Cardiff to ensure the points were shared.

Heading overseas, Leo Ostigard featured for the entirety of St Pauli's 0-0 draw with Dynamo Dresden in a Bundesliga 2 encounter on Friday, while Viktor Gyokeres played for 62 minutes in the same game.

Over in Belgium, Percy Tau came on for the final 32 minutes of Club Brugge's 2-1 win Waasland-Beveren on Saturday, while in Spain, Bojan Radulovic played 83 minute for Deportivo Alaves B in a goalless stalemate with SD Leioa on Sunday.

Finally, on the non-league scene, Carl Rushworth got a full game under his belt for Worthing in a 1-0 defeat at home to Folkestone Invicta. Despite being on the losing side, he made an outstanding save with the scores level at 0-0 at the time.
